Ignite Hope is an idea. Ignite Hope is the idea that the world can run, even flourish, on the principles of love, compassion, and forgiveness.
It doesn’t matter who we are, what our religious or spiritual beliefs are, our nationality, or our political leanings: we all share the same desire to live in this kind of place. And so when we look at the world and see that it’s not right, we know we should fix it. Here. And now.
It is hope that allows us to do this. Not merely to dream of doing it, as if it were some far-off vision, or to wish that it would somehow be done by others, but to actually feel the impact of injustice or suffering, and then act to change it. And, to act without any knowledge of what the ultimate outcome of our deeds may be, which is left to God to decide.
This idea is a bold one, rooted in faith traditions going back thousands of years, when the notion of loving one another as we love ourselves was a daring, and surprising, concept. It was a leap of faith that today finds expression in the belief that we can create that better future, through acts small and large, of compassion, forgiveness, and love.
All of us have the capacity to embrace hope — to ignite it in ourselves and others — allowing us to transform our world into the place God wants it to be.
